Local Leader Recognised at State Awards

Six outstanding leaders from New South Wales have been named the best in the state in the Australian Institute of Management’s Leadership Excellence Awards 2016. The ALEAs are the peak national awards program that showcases individuals who have made a meaningful impact and contribution to their organisation and community. Leaders and managers who have driven commercial success, inspired teams, championed innovation or made significant community contributions are recognised and celebrated.

The ALEAs consist of six categories, to ensure they encompass the variety of ways in which leadership is practised – Leader/Manager, Owner/Entrepreneur, Emerging Leader, Student, Not for Profit and Community Leader.

Deb Ryan, CEO of Community Care Options Coffs Harbour, was selected as the winner from 5 finalists in her category. ‘Being recognised as the NSW Not for Profit Leader of the Year was a tremendous honour and quite unexpected’ said Deb. The process which Deb described as ‘a little intimidating but insightful’ involved an intensive interview with a panel of Not for Profit Leaders from across NSW prior to the Awards ceremony held in Sydney on 6^th September. Deb who was this year’s Sunny’s Business Awards Business Leader of the Year, will now represent NSW and Not for Profit organisations at the National Leadership Excellence Awards to be held in Brisbane on 19^th October 2016.
