What is Respite?

The role of a carer is essential to ensuring the overall care and wellbeing of the person they care for. We recognise the importance of supporting carers to continue in their caring role by providing them with access to tailored respite supports.

Our supports are designed around your individual circumstances. We work to understand your needs as a carer in addition the needs of the person you care for so that services are meaningful and meet the needs of both of you. Our supports are designed to enable you to take time for yourself whilst we care for the person you care for.

Our respite can be provided in ways determined by you but may include:

  • Regular in-home respite where we stay with the person you care for while you go out and have a break or attend to your own errands
  • Regular supports where we take the person you care for out to access the community and you remain at home to rest in your own space
  • Emergency respite when something unexpected happens
